Orpheus Instituut is pleased to welcome Duo Altiler to this year’s Advanced Chamber Music Course. The Belgian violin-piano duo, formed by Veronique De Raedemaeker (violin) and Alexander Declercq (piano), was selected following their application earlier this year and will join other ensembles in a programme designed to support artistic and professional development in chamber music.
The Advanced Chamber Music Course offers chamber ensembles the opportunity to refine their musical skills, explore new repertoire, and work closely with experienced mentors. By combining coaching sessions, performance opportunities, and peer exchange, the course creates a space where ensembles can deepen their artistic identity while engaging with an international community of musicians.
We see this as a chance to continue developing our duo, both technically and musically, while sharing ideas with other ensembles and learning from the course mentors"Veronique and Alexander.
Duo Altiler was founded after the two musicians met at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne, where they began performing together. The name Altiler refers to the tradition of gathering under a linden tree, a place for meeting and exchanging ideas: a fitting image for their musical partnership.
In recent years, the duo has performed in venues across Belgium and taken part in a range of projects and competitions. Their activities have included a benefit concert for Mercy Ships at Antwerp’s Elisabeth Hall in 2023, participation in Iedereen Klassiek at Concertgebouw Brugge in 2024, and winning both the main and audience prizes at the Supernova Competition 2025 organised by Radio Klara. Their repertoire spans composers such as Beethoven, Bartók, Ravel, Messiaen, and Piazzolla, with a particular interest in combining well-known works with less frequently performed pieces.
As participants in the Advanced Chamber Music Course, Duo Altiler will work with leading musicians and fellow ensembles to explore both established and contemporary repertoire, focusing on interpretation, ensemble playing, and presentation.
