Distributed Education

Artistic research thrives on exchange. We share our expertise through a global network of partnerships, making high-level research thinking accessible to musicians everywhere.

An introduction to Artistic Research

We developed a free online course to follow at your own pace. This MOOC is providing a globally accessible entry point into the field. It is now a staple resource used by educational institutions worldwide to ground their own curricula.

International Partnerships

We lead and participate in Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs) that bring students together across borders:

  • FARM (Fostering Artistic Research in Music): In collaboration with partners in Rome, Aveiro, and Dublin, FARM helps Master’s and Doctoral students rethink their musical practice in relation to today's economic and cultural climate.

International Workshops

For early-career researchers we organise seminars and workshops:

  • WARM (Workshop Artistic Research in Music): Run with the conservatoires of Florence and Milan, this series offers autonomous reflection on artistic practice, culminating in a residential workshop at Orpheus Instituut.
  • LabRAM (Laboratorio di Ricerca Artistica in Musica): A process-oriented study trajectory organised with the Pescara Conservatoire, focusing on concrete research questions and the integration of practice and reflection.
  • AReMus (Artistic Research in Music) is a Master's programme at the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia in Rome (Italy) in collaboration with Orpheus Instituut.
