EventNovember 21, 2017Experimental Performance
Baroque and classical pieces are performed with electric guitars, laptops, and video projectors. They are exploded into digital images and enacted by the breathtaking contemporary dancer Marlene Monteiro Freitas. Robert Schumann’s famous piano fantasies Kreisleriana, are played in dialogue with texts by Roland Barthes and Friedrich Nietzsche, submersed in a three-screen video projection and live-electronics.
With Aberrant Nuptials, the ME21 Collective, based at the Orpheus Institute Ghent, continues its challenging explorations of experimental performance practices for Western notated art music, expanding horizons and shattering semiotic boundaries. The two parts of this show have been conceived by Lucia D’Errico (Part I) and Paulo de Assis (Part II), who also perform them together with Juan Parra C. and Heloisa Amaral.
