docARTES students Nadav Katan, Filipa Botelho (with ensemble) and Jasmijn Lootens (with ensemble) will be performing at Miry Concertzaal in Ghent in the new cultural season.

Orpheus Institute PhD candidate Nadav Katan’s recital centres on the poet more than the composer. This young Israeli pianist celebrates a romantic fascination with the word. Arrangements of imaginative arias from German song and opera, including Orpheo & Euridice, Widmung and Gretchen am Spinnrade set the pace. While the song melodies are in the higher piano regions, with Chopin and Schumann, the unification of words and music is immediate. Schumann's poetic ‘Der Dichter Spricht’ is the ideal ending to a lyrical evening.

Down The Rabbit Hole (Filipa Botelho)

The Down the Rabbit Hole collective presents Screening, a performance uniquely intertwining visual and auditive elements. Alexander Schubert’s Hello begins as a YouTube tutorial for performers and ends as a symphonic game. Rama Gottfried's handmade puppets are brought to life by the eye of a camera. Frédéric Verrières leads us step by step through a cinematic sequence where image, movement and sound become a complex assemblage.
