2010 - 2013
Transbody is a follow-on project from Rebody, which was performed at the 2010 ORCiM festival. Transbody will be a major performance, in which Rebody algorithms are used to expose a dancer to an experimental setup, challenging the dancer to transpose his or her body into a visio-acoustic constellation. The effect will be that through artistic transformations a new experience of what a 'body' can be will be introduced that potentially will trigger the creation of new artistic patterns.
Transbody will deal with an important issue of Rebody: the usage of pre-recorded data. This limitation meant that choices as to how the dancer performed were left in dark resulting in her movements being accessible but not her decisions. The proposed feedback structure for Transbody will include the dancer into the experimental setup challenging ideas of pre-conceived choreographies.
The artistic research that goes into the development of Transbody as an experimental performance will be made accessible in a major performance planned for 2012. The co-creative research project will re-negotiate possible sites for musical composition, imaging and stage design, dancing and choreography.
