Eveline Vervliet (Belgium, 1997) is a composer and sound artist creating concert music, (web) installations, sound walks and more.
At the core of her current practice lies a preoccupation with the ephemeral and the silent, the broken and the forgotten. As a first-generation digital native, her computer serves as a close artistic companion. Her work emerges from moving between and thinking through both physical and digital worlds, drawing on their distinct logics and materialities. Paper, piano, DAW and code all have an important place in her practice.
Her commitment to the rights of nonhumans naturally finds its way into her work, with nonhuman animals and organisms taking the central perspective in (collaborative) projects such as Through Moss-Colored Glasses (2026, with Desiree Kabis), strange kinships (2025, with Philipp C. Mayer) and Liminal (2024).
Since 2026, Eveline is pursuing a docARTES PhD at the Antwerp Conservatory and working as an artistic researcher within the Posthuman Music research cluster at Orpheus Instituut.
Eveline completed her composition studies in Tilburg with Kees van den Bergh and Anthony Fiumara and in Stuttgart with Luxa Mart*in Schüttler. During her bachelor studies, she was the recipient of the 2021 Jacques de Leeuw price. Since then, she has received the STIP-5 scholarship for AI and music from Musikfonds and commissions from a.o. Transit (Festival 20·21) for Nadar Ensemble, Ensemble Proton, Felix Nagl, De Link, [uan] duo and deSingel.
Her works have been performed at festivals and venues such as New Music Dublin (IE), Warsaw Autumn (PL), Transit (BE), Gaudeamus (NL), Liederhalle (DE), PODIUM Esslingen (DE), Koningin Elisabethzaal (BE), deSingel (BE), MDJ Stuttgart (DE), Dampfzentrale (CH).
From 2023 until 2024, she organised WebSoundArt, a platform for web-based sound art. Occasionally, she can be found on stage performing electronic music.
